Yesterday was Nancy's Annual Treat Yo Self Day. It happens a lot more frequently than annually, but I have a hard time letting go and really treating myself so I split it up over a few sessions. Alternately it means that I like to Treat Mi Self far too frequently.
Anyways Treat Yo Self Day is when I go to Toronto, meet up with absolutely nobody, have no internet access, and spend the day shopping, eating baos and tacos at Bahn Mi Boys and whatever. Then I go home.
The reason that Treat Yo Self Day was on a Sunday instead of a Saturday was because Justin's nephew was getting baptized. Neither of us are particularly religious - I might be more religious than he is, but I'm more strongly opposed to the religious indoctrination of children, whereas he claims to have suffered no ill effects from being "waterboarded" as a baby (his words, not mine).
Anyways the total damage was:
Cat stationary from the Korea gift shop that is everywhere
It looks like my cat
KombuchaFlavour: The Limes of Disappointment
Faux suede jacket cardigan from WhinersIt has funky braided fringe details and it is warm
Lady Vengeance rollerball
I had the fortune to acquire a large sample of Tom Ford Cafe Rose recently. For me, the perfume is predominantly Rose with the Cafe lending only some warmth and smoothness to the composition. It smells like the way a red velvet cape looks. However Tom Ford is frickin expensive. I wanted a similar-smelling warm, spicy rose. Also, I didn't feel like fighting any bouncers at The Bay/Holt Renfrew/Nordstrom.
The following from Sephora was my shortlist:
Rose anonyme - not bad, but too clean, austere. Also not available as a mini.
Nirvana Rose - Not a lot of depth
Stella - Very pretty and lush but too fresh, too sparkly.
Cafe tuberosa - very nice coffee but not what I was looking for.
This was the point where the Sexy Sales Associate recommended Lady Vengeance. LV is close to Cafe Rose but more jagged at the edges. So, hopefully when I finish that travel spray I'll have forgotten what Cafe Rose smells like.
