Founder's Mutation is a pretty good Monster of the Week episode... except for the William allusions.

I usually find it cheap when children are used as a source of pathos. Especially in action movies where they stand still and scream and contribute to the demise of a more developed character. In Founder's Mutation William is the subject of a Mulder and Scully's navelgazing what-ifs. It was quite touching to see Mulder nerd it up with his absent son. Interesting how Mulder and Scully's fears manifest.
