anyone can fall apart, let's fall together

So there's a guy in my program who is quirky.

I thought he was nice enough at first, though somewhat naive and pushy with his company - like he was trying to use every networking trick in the book. I responded politely but curtly to his questions. I really wish he would stop talking to me but he can't take a hint.

He also carries his school supplies around in a green Sobey's shopping basket. Understandable, and a little odd, but harmless.

Today though, was definitely out of the bounds of normality.

1) He tried to SLEEP UNDER MY FRIEND'S DESK. UNDER HER DESK. A five-minute nap, he said. ON THE FLOOR OF THE COMPUTER LAB.

2) He asked what Facebook was, and whether it was free or not. He then asked my friend if her profile was like a 'home' with walls... Later on I found his profile on Facebook with a cover picture change from FEBRUARY 2013.

3) I compile crosswords at a school newspaper. He saw my screen and asked what a crossword was.

According to LinkedIn the guy already has a degree in Environmental studies at the same university, and has held co-op positions. He's from Maryland, so his behaviour can't be excused as culture shock. What is he doing? Should I recommend some kind of counselling?? Am I in a horror movie???
