Right now I'm 99% sure I'm going to leave KW forever at the end of April.
But we met up twice last week for caffeinated beverages. Today we went to eat sushi. Talked for three and a half hours about stuff. When was the last time that I really talked to someone for that long? About ISIS/ISIL. America as the world's peacekeepers. Ubuntu. RAID storage. Whether black counts as a favourite colour or not. International development. Corporal punishment as child discipline. What civils really do on the job. Traffic lights. And then he picked up the bill when I was in the toilet.
But I mention that I'm leaving KW, every time. So, like, dude, why? I'm not gonna get into anything now. And it's too bad because he doesn't trigger any warning flags. Hits several of the bonus categories.
Maybe he just really craved sushi and didn't want to eat in a group. Because group-ordering sushi is a recipe for stomach upset. Today, I only hated myself a little at the end. I didn't even go through the I'm so full I'm gonna die phase. That's a new one.

Saw this on a bulletin board in the hallway. THAT's the kind of race I'd like to be in.
I mean one of the recommended tools is a PROGRAMMABLE CALCULATOR. I have one! And I know kinematics! Might put it to good use!

Also apparently the best way to cook a steak is to tin foil it, salt it, and put it in the oven with a meat thermometer at something low like 240F, wait until the internal temperature is ~130F. Then you take it out. Meanwhile heat up a pan and then when it's all ready, happily sear it as quickly as possible.
Restaurants cook steak by vacuum sealing it and cooking it sous-vide, to get the whole thickness of the meat a certain temperature as opposed to a gradient of temperatures, as when cooked in a pan.
