I paid $14 to get my ass kicked in contract bridge.

Thirty-three hands. Three and a half hours.

Oh my god, I made the WORST rookie mistake ever in 3NT. In diamonds I had AK9, my partner had J10xxxx. I COMPLETELY FORGOT to play high card from the short side first. First we won with the J/9, then played the ace, dropping opponent's queen. But then I realized I had no avenue back into my partner's hand and the diamond suit winners were now useless. FML.

It's okay, I guess, because later on my partner bid 1NT. I had seven hearts so I bid 2D (transfer) and he ignored it. He ignored it and bid 2NT. I passed because I had no idea what to do, because seriously WTF, you don't pass a transfer. Turns out it was a doubleton A x but still worst case scenario we'd still have a seven card fit and most of the HCP. Very sad.

My partner and I didn't finish last, though. We finished second last. So that's good!
