Ice Cube - Good DayThe appointment really helped. What made it different from other times (like, 1st year, 2nd year) was that I wasn't in a minor crisis state when I booked it. Just minor stress. Stress can be resolved by positive thinking, meditation, and breathing exercises. By "stress" I refer to the ongoing Damocle's motivational sword of "if you don't do your assignment you're doomed" "if you don't get 90%+ you're a failure" "update this spreadsheet by 5PM or you're doomed" "if you don't get an answer from your advertisers TOMORROW you're a failure and nobody else in your position has ever been a failure". It's been an undeniably effective technique but... I'm ready for a change.
So, today, I:
- Bought a $2 grilled cheese sandwich for charity and negotiated a nonstandard +$0.50 for extra cheese. I burned myself on the cheese, which oozed out between the slices of bread like the mucousal secretions of an over-hydrated Hutt. It was delicious.
- Stapled propaganda to the EngSoc bulletin boards. "You could wait for Snape to teach you to bottle fame and brew glory, or you could write for XYZ!" "Spiderman contributed to his school paper, and so can you!" They were good posters. Pity that one can only staple one poster per organization to each board.
- Got two planning students and a civil student for the transit planning term project.
- Spoke to Prof T about grad things. She would be a really great supervisor, if I get into one of her asset management projects.
- Finished my presentation on the Courtney Park / Kennedy Road project. It was, like, 7 minutes long. The instructor said it was a good presentation. I thought the question period went really well.
- Contacted company in California to pay for their outstanding invoices
- Shaved about 50 pages off my PDF of course notes prior to getting it printed and bound
- Went to BOT party and lost all my chips in poker.
- Sent my ad manager a list of people to contact. Speaking of advertising, it feels a lot like
this, but the ad manager just needs a list of contacts pulled from the budgets from the last three terms. Thanks, dude.
